on February 24, said Business Secretary Peter Mandelson today, reminding would-be car buyers to take advantage of the scheme before it closes. There are now less than 50,000 potential further orders left.

As part of the exit phase the Department of Business has allocated potential order quotas to manufacturers based on brand popularity. This quota allocation process will help ensure a smooth closing of the scheme.

Lord Mandelson, Business Secretary said:

“This is last orders for the scrappage scheme. Car owners need to move quickly to avoid disappointment if they want to buy a new car at a discount.

“Industry figures have showed again and again the benefits that the scrappage scheme is continuing to deliver to the automotive sector and beyond. It is great news that in January scrappage helped the industry to achieve its biggest output gain since May 1976."

The UK scheme, with up to £400m from Government and matched funding from manufacturers, is intended to provide a short term boost to industry and stimulate consumer demand during the downturn. It has also removed older vehicles from the road and encouraged consumers to invest in new, safer, and potentially more environmentally friendly models.

Source: Auto Industry

The Car-Scrapyards team.

Geneva Motor Show

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Geneva Motor Show

The life in automobile industry is marked with some important events such as the Geneva Motor Show. One of the major shows of the year, a lot of new models are introduced in Geneva. And of course, the biggest trend there is "always greener".

But the automakers seem to have understand they can't do these cars without a proper style. Surprisingly enough, people do not like the cubic shapes of the early electric/hybrid vehicles. The car you can see on the picture above is a Lotus Evora 414E hybrid. This car is the perfect exemple of what the makers can do: it goes from 0 to 60mph in less than 4 seconds and rejects only 55g/km of CO2. Or in other words: yes you can have some fun with a hybrid car.

The Audi A1 above is a fully electrical concept. Based on the forthcoming urban car by the German automaker, this concept car proves that even the most prestigious makers are following the green way. We can discuss about the design which I personnally think it is a failure, half way between a Citroën and a Mini. Not the best thing Audi has ever made in my humble opinion.

More to come about the Geneva Motor Show on Car-Scrapyards.

The Car-Scrapyards Team

Peugeot 5008

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Peugeot 5008

First announced during the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Peugeot 5008 has been revealed more precisely by the French auto maker. At first, one may be disappointed by the rather dull design of the 5008. Indeed, Peugeot has been more audacious with some of its other recent models.

Yet, the inside seems to be very comfortable and convenient, not to mention the quality of the Peugeot 5008. Peugeot shades light on the modularity and the space inside the 5008. If you combine all of this with some nice high-tech features (such as the satnav or the head-up display), you have a car that you enjoy being inside of.

Under the bonnet, Peugeot will use its long experience in Diesel engines by offering four HDi engines (110, 150 and 163bhp) and two petrol engines (120 and 156bhp). These motors produce from 140 to 181g/km of CO2 and the fuel consumption ranges from 5.2 to 7.4 l/100km.

The Car-Scrapyards team

BMW X1

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

BMW X1

After the success of the 1 Series, the German carmaker BMW has revealed the new X1. Not really a SUV but not a regular car either, the BMW X1 is the perfect example of what a cross-over is.

The BMW X1 will be available in five different versions. Starting from £22,660, the most expensive will reach £29,055, all in Diesel. The CO2 emissions vary from 136 to 167 g/km and the fastest BMW X1 can go from 0 to 62mph in just 7.3s.

The interior of the BMW X1 is just what we can expect from the Bavarian brand: quality and luxury. After a rather dull period, the carmarker is really back to its best. The latest example is this stunning Revolte concept that was unleashed at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Let the pictures speak.

Openly taking after the mythical 2CV, the Citroën Revolte is more on a luxury tone, I would say. Indeed, there is a three-seater cabin, designed to resemble a lounge with seats similar to those found in home furnishings. It does look like comfortable.

The Citroën Revolte has the following features under the bonnet. There is a small-capacity conventional combustion engine that is combined with an electric motor. The driver of the Revolte has the ability to run in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode, i.e. without emissions. Not so bad.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Bugatti Galibier

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Bugatti Galibier

Bugatti is celebrating its 100th birthday this year, and what's better than a brand new concept to celebrate such an anniversary? The legendary marque has revealed extensive details about the Galibier. A successor of the €1-million Veyron, the Bugatti Galibier is "intended to be the most exclusive, elegant and powerful four-door automobile in the world".

The Bugatti Galibier is built with a carbonfibre body while the wings and doors are in polished aluminum. This gives the car a vintage look that I find very appealing. As you can see on the picture above, the bonnet opens in a very strange way.

Yet we can't help thinking that the Bugatti Galibier looks a lot like the recent Porsche Panamera. The make will decide whether this concept will go into production in 2010.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Koenigsegg Trevita

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Koenigsegg Trevita

The Swedish super sport cars manufacturer Koenigsegg has revealed its latest masterpiece. Called Trevita (meaning "three whites" in Swedish", this great car is entirely made of carbonfibres which gives it a very sparkling look.

According to the Swedish carmaker, "Koenigsegg has managed to coat fibers with a diamond finish. The process was fully developed at Koenigsegg headquarters in Ängelholm Sweden, where the fiber treatment is conducted carefully in small quantities, prior to further processing the prepreg material."

Yet it's unlikely that you can see a Trevita in real (as well as any other Koenigsegg by the way). As its name indicates, only three models will be manufactured. The 6.5 liter twelve-cylinder generates 493 kW (670 PS), catapulting the Roadster from 0 to 100 Km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 330 KM/h (205 mph). The open-top Lamborghini Reventón Roadster is not only one of the fastest, but also one of the most exclusive cars in the world - Lamborghini has limited the series.

The Lamborghini Reventón Roadster is not destined to remain a one-off. Less than 20 Lamborghini friends and collectors will be able to own this extraordinary car and, naturally, enjoy the incomparable pleasure of driving it. Each Lamborghini Reventón Roadster will be sold for 1.1 Million Euro (without taxes). Deliveries will begin October 2009.

Open-top sports cars are a tradition at Lamborghini that stretches back over 40 years. In 1968, the company from Sant'Agata Bolognese built a Lamborghini Miura without a fixed roof as a one-off. The Lamborghini Diablo Roadster appeared in 1995 with its targa roof anchored to the engine cover.

The Car-Scrapyards team (taken from Lamborghini Press)

Audi e-tron

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Audi e-tron

You are going to say that I'm talking waaaaay to much of electric cars but the facts are there: a lot of makers are running this race. The latest one is Germany's Audi, which revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this e-tron. As you can see, it is basically a R8 -but fully electric. And yes, it's going really fast.

The figures are quite impressive. The 4 electric engines of the Audi e-tron have 313 hp and the car can go from 0 to 62mph in 4.8s. The top speed is limited to 125mph and the autonomy is announced to be of about 156m. The Audi e-tron is clearly a serious rival of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics.

A fast and beautiful electric car: ecology has suddenly become very attractive to me.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Toyota Land Cruiser

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Toyota Land Cruiser

Toyota, world's first carmaker, has revealed the latest generation of the Land Cruiser. At first glance, not so many changes can be noticed. Considering that the Toyota Land Cruiser is 60-year-old and has been bought by five million customers in 176 countries around the world, we can understand that this best-selling 4WD is of strong importance to the Japanese manufacturer.

The new Land Cruiser will only be available as a five-door model with seven seats. There are other models to be released on other European markets but Toyota does not plan to make them available on the U.K. market. This version will come with a 171bhp 3.0-litre D-4D diesel engine with five-speed automatic transmission. The <stron>Toyota Land Cruiser will go from 0 to 62mph in 11.7s with a top speed of 109mph.</stron>

The Toyota Land Cruiser is quite impressive. With a length of 4.7 metres, a width of 1.9 metre and a height of 1.8 metre, it's going to be a big one. Just for the record, Toyota announced a fuel consumption of 34.9mpg with emissions of CO2 of 214 g/km.
Not really original, but still good to look at.

The Car-Scrapyards team

McLaren MP4-12C

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

McLaren MP4-12C

McLaren is back to business with this little jewel. Its name: the McLaren MP4-12C. Ok, not really easy to remember, but if you can't recall the name, you have to be impressed by this stunning look. Just enjoy it.

But as you can guess, the McLaren MP4-12C is not only beautiful, it's also quite powerful. The engine is a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 600bhp controlled with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, made by McLaren, of course.

A few lines about the ecological trend of the moment: the McLaren MP4-12C has more power per gram of CO2 than any other cars which are not electric vehicles. No official figures are available yet, but the MP4-12C should produce about 200 g/km. It is scheduled for early 2011 and should be priced at £150,000.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Peugeot i0n

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Peugeot i0n

And yes: this is another electric car coming up. The French carmaker Peugeot has released this picture of the i0n prior to the Frankfurt Motor Show.

And yes: it is ugly.

But the interesting part is shown in the figures Peugeot announced for this little car. The Peugeot i0n has been created in close collaboration with Japanese Mistubishi, a long-time partner of the French make (remember the 4007, which was a Peugeot-labelled Outlander). The i0n is said to go 80 miles on its lithium-ion battery, with a theoric top speed of 80mph. The battery can be charged in six hours on domestic power, but if you have a fast charge system, you'll have 80% of the baterry in just half an hour.

Coming from Peugeot this release is not surprising. Indeed, with the 106 Electric (issued back in 1995), the French firm has sold more zero CO2 emission vehicles than any other maker in the world.

But it's definitely too ugly.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Ford C-Max

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

The American giant is going to introduce the latest version of the Ford C-Max at the Frankfurt Motor Show. According to Ford, the new C-Max is derivated from the iosis Max concept that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

The Ford C-Max will used a brand new engine: the 1.6-litre EcoBoost with direct injection petrol. Ford will also introduce a semi-automatic parallel parking and a blind-spot detection system on the behalf of safety.

But there are not much information about the forthcoming car. Ford will announce additionnal details at the press conference of the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Rolls-Royce Ghost

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Rolls-Royce Ghost

Rolls-Royce has released some official photos for the Ghost. Well, the pics are speaking for themselves: this is indeed a Rolls-Royce. No real surprise on this one but this is not what we expect from Rolls-Royce, is it?

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is powered by a new twin turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine and comes with a 8-speed ZF gearbox. It has been designed to be "an escape from the outside world". Among other things, you will find a 600 watts sound system with a 12.5GB hard drive. Two LCD screens are available for passengers. It is furnished with large expanses of soft-full grain leather, natural wood veneers and deep Blenheim carpets. But as each Ghost is hand-built to order, you can choose some details (if you can pay the £200,000, of course).

The Car-Scrapyards team

Toyota Auris Hybrid

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Toyota Auris Hybrid

The world's first carmaker Toyota has released some pics of the Auris Hybrid that is going to be fully revealed during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Visually, nothing really changes from the regular Auris, except a slight alteration of the front bumper. Yet, the German carmaker has revealed a stunning concept prior to the Frankfurt Motor Show, this beautiful Vision EddicientDynamics.

The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept uses a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbodiesel. But as it is an Hybrid, it is associated to two electric motors which are located in both front and rear axles. The car reached 351 bhp. It's a "little" more than the Prius.

Even if the Vision EfficientDynamics is only a concept, BMW stated that the future models of the make will use the innovative technology developped on this concept. If the design is equally appealing, I'm really looking forward the next things!

The Car-Scrapyards team

Volvo XC60 R-Design

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Volvo XC60 R-Design

Another news for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show with this R-Design version of the Volvo XC60. Basically this will be a sporty version of the current 4-wheel drive.

The sporty look comes from some details all over the Volvo XC60 R-Design. You can see a metal rear skid-plate, side scuff plates, twin chrome tailpipes and 18" aluminium wheels. And the whole body is painted, unlike on the regular XC60. There are a lot of aluminium inserts inside as well to create a sport mood.

This looks more interesting than the XC60. Well, at least I myself prefer this XC60 R-Design, but let's wait for the real thing before judging.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Mini Coupe Concept

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Mini Coupe Concept

The Frankfurt Motor Show is definitely going to be THE place to be. Among the exciting upcoming models we can add this gorgeous Mini Coupe Concept. Designed for the 50th birthday of the famous British make, the Mini Coupe Concept is really a beautiful car! With its very low, aluminum-made roof, the Coupe has a very good look.

Created as a serious rival to the Audi TT and the Peugeot RCZ, the Mini Coupe Concept has indeed a lot of assets. The face is really from Mini but the rest is original and it is announced as a rather luxury car.

Let's say a word about the engine. The Mini Coupe Concept will enjoy the 208 bhp, 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine from the John Cooper Works hot hatch. It should go quite fast as the aluminum roof makes this car very light.
Very nice.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Citroën DS3

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Citroën DS3

Citroën has issued some pieces of information about the model that will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Citroën DS3 is said to be a serious rival to the Mini of the Fiat 500, and it is undoubtedly.

As well as for the small BMW-owned little car, the roof of the Citroën DS3 can be of a different colour than the rest of the body. Customers will be able to make their car look like they want to. The design itself is really eye-catching. We can say that Citroën is really finding a new, incredible style of its own, as it used to be in a more glorious time.

Under the bonnet, it's quite good too: two HDi diesels (from 90 to 110 bhp) and three petrol engines (from 95 to 150 bhp) will be available. As it is one of the most important things for Citroën, the DS3 is rather eco-friendly, with no more than 160g/km of CO2.

That's one good little car! I'm really looking forward the Frankfurt show with all these new models coming up!

The Car-Scrapyards team

Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The German car maker Porsche has given birth to its latest beauty. The 911 GT3 RS is the (ultra) sportive version of the mythic 911. And the pictures are simply mind-blowing.

And the figures are quite impressive too (but not surprising though):

450 bhp

6-speed manual gearbox

top speed: 193 mph (310 kmh)

from 0 to 62 mph: 4s

from 0 to 124 mph: 12.2s

That must be kind of fun to drive.

But if, like me, you are not likely to drive one of these in a near or far future, you can go to Porsche's website to have a glimpse. There is a video where you can see the 911 GT3 RS on a track, and well it looks like it's definitely fun.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is to go on sale February 2010. It is derived from the RCZ Concept that was revealed in Frankfurt in 2007. The goal of Peugeot with this car is simple: to challenge the Audi TT, as it can easily be seen on the pics.

Peugeot has announced three available motors: 1.6 THP 156bhp with manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox; 2.0 HDi FAP 163bhp with manual gearbox and 1.6 THP 200bhp with manual gearbox. As the French make is one of the greenest carmakers on the market, some interesting figures about the consumption are announced: from 53 MPG (5.3l/100km) to 37 MPG (7.5l/100km), and from 139g/km to 174g/km of CO2 emissions.

The Peugeot RCZ is to be put on sales in 2010.

The Car-Scrapyards team

Bentley Mulsanne

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

The New Bentley Mulsanne

The prestige marque Bentley has unveiled yesterday its latest model. As it was expected, the group is designing a hybrid car to comply with the eco-friendly mood that is reaching the automotive industry -and well, we are not going to complain about that.

The Volt is going to be what its name means. GM did not design a fully electric car, but this hybrid seems to be a nice start to try to catch up some other makes (let's say, Toyota, for example). And the American carmaker announces some very interesting figures.

On its battery only, the Chevrolet Volt is said to be able to drive up to 40 miles. And with the classic fuel engine, this figure goes up to 300 miles. But more interesting, the car is expected to achieve city fuel economy of at least 230 miles per gallon.

The Chevrolet Volt is to be released in late 2010. But the company issued its first car only in 1903, and then moved its production line in Luton.

In 1925, Vauxhall was bought by the Americain General Motors. That's why all the vehicles from Vauxhall in the modern era are strictly derivated from the German make Opel, also owned by GM.

Maybe this is going to change as GM, in a critical position nowadays, is willing to sell its British marque. It is called Leaf and it is the first electric car that is designed to be sold worldwide, like any other regular car.

The Leaf can reach up to 100 miles (160 km) on its lithium-ion battery, which can be full charged in about an hour with a quick charger, or in about eight hours on a regular plug, at home.

The Nissan Leaf is the natural evolution of cars in these days where people and governments are hunting CO2 high production rates. Indeed, this car does not produce any CO2 or any other greenhouse gases. Yet, although the autonomy is quite good, the Leaf is going to be a great city car, but not a long runner.

Well, at last a good-looking electric car!

The Car-Scrapyards team

Ferrari 458 Italia

Car-Scrapyards: used car parts
presents

The New Ferrari 458 Italia

The famous Italian automaker has recently revealed its latest jewel. As it can be seen on the official website of the marque, the brand new F458 Italia will be officially released at the next Frankfurt Motor Show. And what we can see on the pictures is already mouth-watering!

A car one more time designed by Pininfarina, the F458 Italia is a two-seater berlinetta with a mid-rear engine. The technology used is allegedly taken from the Formula 1 experience. And the sound is said to be typically Ferrari! I didn't have the chance to listen to it but it must be a good one.

According to the figures provided by Ferrari, the F458 is producing only 320g/km of CO2 and the fuel consumption is just 13.7 l/100 km,which makes it the most effective car in this segment. In the same time, this beautiful car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4s with a maximum speed of 325 km/h.

Fast and beautiful. Today's article will focus on the French make Peugeot.

Originally a grinder maker, Peugeot has released its first model in 1889, and the Peugeot company was then founded in 1896 by Armand Peugeot. Although the current headquarters are located in Paris, the historical place of birth of Peugeot is Montbéliard, eastern France. Nowadays, the plant in Sochaux (next to Montbéliard) is the biggest plant in France with more than 12,000 workers.

Peugeot is the second largest auto manufacturer in Europe after Volkswagen, with almost 3,500,000 units produced in 2007. The famous models of Peugeot include the 403 (Lieutenant Columbo's car), the 205 or, more recently, the 406.

In 1976, Peugeot bought the French automaker Citroën and formed an entity called PSA Peugeot Citroën. It is interesting to know that the Peugeot family is still a major shareholder of the company.

The future Peugeot models to be announced are a 308 coupé and the 408.

The Car-Scrapyards team
Sources: Wikipedia; Forum-Peugeot

Our network

Our Network
http://www.car-scrapyards.co.uk/

To ensure that you will be able to find the used car parts you want, Car-Scrapyards is setting up a network of scrap yards over the United Kingdom. Started back in January 2006, FranceCasse has met a great success thanks to its fresh and innovative approach towards scrap yards.

Since 2006, 500,000 visitors have been charmed by FranceCasse. It is the greatest scrap yards network in France and the success is undeniable. This is the goal that Car-Scrapyards wishes to achieve in the United Kingdom.

Some interesting figures about France Casse:

Service launched in January 2006

6-people staff

500,000 customers since its creation

More than 150 scrap yards joined the network

Every day:

10,000 new visitors

1,600 resquests

1,200 complete answers

400 contacts

The Car-Scrapyards team

About Car-Scrapyards

Change your relations towards scrap yards with Car-Scrapyards.
http://www.car-scrapyards.co.uk/

Car-Scrapyards was created in August 2008. It is the result of collaboration between car experts and Internet development specialists. The idea is simple: to revolutionize our relations towards scrap yards. You can now experience a new and innovative way to look for used car parts.

The time when you had to visit each scrap yard in your area to find the used car part you needed is over. In one single request on the website, you can ask for free all the scrap yards which are members of our network for the part you’re looking for.

When you send a request on Car-Scrapyards, it is automatically forwarded to the whole network. Within 24 hours, the prices are sent directly to your electronic mailbox from all the United Kingdom.
